Ball raises over £800k

Saturday night saw another glittering, fabulous Emeralds & Ivy Ball, Ronan’s 6th in conjunction with Cancer Research UK.

In a purpose built venue on London’s Embankment everyone who attended was treated to an eastern inspired extravaganza .. with Chinese acrobats, drummers, dancers, decorations with delicious food & drinks inspired by the Orient.

Ronan was supported by Yvonne, his kids and other members of his family, Shane and his gorgeous wife Sheena were there too as well as many others including Rod Stewart & Penny Lancaster, Alan Shearer, Sol Campbell, Nancy Del Ollio David Gandy, Michael Flatley & Cerys Matthews.  Ronan’s co-host on the night was his Swim chum Jenni Frost who also looked stunning in her amazing dress – she even auctioned off her frock at the end of the night to help raise more money.

Leona Lewis looked stunning in her jewel encrusted ball gown dress and her singing was equally exquisite.  After the auction Ronan took to the stage with his band to perform some of his most loved songs.  The brilliant James Corden joined Ronan on stage for Picture Of You  and not only can that boy sing .. he can bust some pretty decent running man dance moves too and together they raised the roof.  The beautiful and talented Sharon Corr joined Ronan for a rousing version of ‘Fairytale of New York’ and the other special guests on that track were the Keating children.  With Jack very adeptly accompanying on guitar while his sisters Missy & Ali provided backing vocals and dancing!!

It was a fun evening but with a very important purpose, to try and raise funds for mobile units for the UK that work in the same way as the Marie Keating Foundation units work in Ireland.  As well as a raucous live auction, with auctioneer Johnny Gould, who kept the money rolling in as he performed his duties in a hilarious and at times spectacularly rude manner, there were ipads on each table so that guests could bid in the silent auction for more brilliant, money can’t buy prizes as well as make pledges towards the units.

The financial people are still counting all the money raised on the night but it looks like it is over £800k, which means the aim to put 3 new units on the road can be a reality and lives can be saved.
